Case History – Mary* - Driving Accident
Recently I had the pleasure of working with Mary
who contacted me to feel better about a car accident she was in. A week after the event she was still feeling very strong anxiety about
driving again and struggling to overcome these feelings. Mary was driving her car when an elderly lady stepped inadvertently into the road
with speed.
Although several witnesses (including an off-duty
policeman) absolved Mary of any criminal responsibility she is a sensitive and gentle soul who felt some substantial anxiety and distress
and some level of guilt regarding the incident.
We immediately worked on the feelings of anxiety
about driving which Mary reported were 10/10. During one telephone session, using EFT, NLP, reframing and NHR, we tapped and relieved
several anxiety related issues attached to driving, until Mary was absolutely comfortable physically sitting behind the wheel of her car
again, (albeit with the engine still off). Then, using reframing and humour we worked on her feelings of guilt re: the accident and the
older lady.
Testing our work from behind the wheel, Mary told
me “the world seems brighter somehow” (even though it was evening, and dark outside during our session).
In a follow up shortly after, Mary told me she had
been driving again as normal since the day after our session, “as if nothing had happened”, and wished she had had a notepad to write down
our conversation.
Mary was a first time client of NLP & EFT and
had no previous experience of either.
